Follicular development:

  1. Inside a woman's ovaries are tiny sacs filled with fluid called folicles.
  2. Folliculogenesis is the process of ovarian follicles formation and maturation.
  3. The little primordial follicles grow into giant preovulatory Graafian follicles as they mature.
  4. The ovary includes follicles in various stages of development at any given time.
  5. A secondary oocyte is produced within the mature follicle, which ruptures at the time of ovulation to release it.

The following are the stages of follicular development:

  1. Primary follicle.
  2. Secondary follicle.
  3. Tertiary follicle.
  4. Graafian follicle.
