The following are the steps involved in the process of photosynthesis:

1. Absorption of light: It is the first step in the process of photosynthesis, in this absorption of light takes place by the molecules of chlorophyll.
2. Transfer of electrons: The transferring of electrons takes place from the primary electron acceptor via a chain of electron transfer molecules found in the membranes of thylakoid to the final electron acceptor that is NADP+.
3. ATP (adenosine triphosphate) generation: With the transferring of electrons proton gradient results. The protons' movement from the thylakoid lumen to the stroma via the FoF1 complex leads to the formation of ATP from ADP and Pi.
4. Fixation of carbon: The generation of ATP and NADP in steps 2 and 3 offer energy, which mediates the procedure of reducing carbon into 6-carbon molecules of sugar.
5. The first three steps are light-dependent, while the last step is independent of light also known as dark reactions.
