Amylase: It is the enzyme that catalyzes the hydrolysis of starch into sugars. It is found in the plants like potatoes, soybean, and cereals and in animals in the liver, salivary glands, and small intestine.

The symptoms of high amylase are as follows:

  1. Weight loss: as the amylase enzyme concentration increases there will be high hydrolysis of starch that leads to weight loss.
  2. Sweating: it is the process where the person's body hydrolyses more starch because of high amylase, as the starch is hydrolyzed, glucose level decreases in the body making the person sweat profusely.
  3. Excessive thirst: High quantity of amylase leads to excessive thirst since it constantly leaves the mouth dry.
