Open in App
Solution

Gastrin:

  1. It is a hormone that is involved in the production and secretion of gastric juice by the stomach to digest the food particles that are taken.
  2. Gastric juice includes HCl that is produced in the stomach.
  3. The HCl helps in the breakdown of proteins and creates an acidic medium in the stomach that helps in the digestion of food molecules.

The symptoms of high gastrin levels are as follows:

  1. Burping: the acid (HCl) secretions will be high in the stomach which causes it to burp through the mouth to release the gas present in the stomach.
  2. Decreased appetite: the HCl secretion will be high and fills the stomach which causes lesser hungry as the stomach is already filled by HCl.
  3. Weight loss: there will be less intake of food because the HCl will be filled in the stomach. This decrease in food intake leads to weight loss.
  4. Stomach ache: inside the stomach, the mucus layer will be disturbed because of high HCl, and the person suffers from a burning sensation.
