Instruction:

    • Planetary winds, Seasonal winds and Local winds and give an example of each one of them
Solution:
There are three kinds of winds
  1. Permanent Winds or Planetary WindsThese winds constantly blow throughout the year in a particular direction.
Example: Trade winds, westerlies and polar easterlies
  2. Seasonal winds:
These winds change their direction in different seasons. They are also known as periodic winds. Secondary winds occur in many locations throughout the world.Example: Monsoon winds: These winds blow from the ocean to land in summer and from land to ocean in winter and thus they keep changing their directions in different seasons.
  3. Local Wind
These winds blow only during a particular period of the day or year in a small area. These winds blow due to the difference in temperature and air pressure of a specific location. Example: Sea breeze, land breeze, mountain and valley breeze, Fohen and chinook winds.
