Blood cells:

  1. The blood plasma consists of cells called blood cells or corpuscles.
  2. There are three different types of blood cells.
  3. They are red blood cells, white blood cells, and blood platelets.

Red blood cells:

  1. These are circular, non-nucleated, biconcave cells and are also called erythrocytes.
  2. They contain hemoglobin which gives the blood-red colour.

White blood cells:

  1. They are commonly known as leucocytes.
  2. They are nucleated cells and lack hemoglobin.
  3. They protect the body against pathogens.

Blood platelets:

  1. They are small, oval, non-nucleated cells and help in the coagulation of blood.
  2. They are commonly known as thrombocytes.
