Extracellular fluid:

  1. Extracellular fluids are the body fluids that are not contained in the cells.
  2. They are found in the blood, lymph, etc.
  3. There are three types of extracellular fluids: Interstitial compartment, Intravascular compartment and Transcellular compartment.

Interstitial compartment: Interstitial fluids are found in the interstitial compartment.

Intravascular compartment: Lymph and blood in lymphatic and blood vessels are in the intravascular compartment.

Transcellular compartment: Traces of transcellular fluid such as ocular and cerebrospinal fluids are in the transcellular compartment.
