The three types of flowers based on the position of the ovary with respect to the other parts of the flower: Hypogynous, Perigynous and Epigynous.
Hypogynous:
When the sepals, petals and stamens are inserted below the ovary, the flower is hypogynous.
Example: Mustard, Brinjal.
Perigynous:
When the thalamus forms a cup-shaped structure around the ovary and the sepals, petals and stamen are inserted on the rim of the cup, the flower is perigynous.
Example: Peach.
Epigynous:
When the ovary is inferior and the sepals, petals and stamen are attached to the top of the ovary, the flower is epigynous.
