There are two main dimensions of Hunger : Chronic and seasonal hunger

Chronic hunger Seasonal hunger

a. Chronic hunger persist generally throughout the year, is of permanent in nature and is the result of inadequate intake of food both in terms of quality and quantity Poor people become targets of hunger also because of seasonal nature of work, ,most of them are poor agricultural laborers in rural areas and become victims of seasonal nature of agriculture, and in urban areas the casual workers working in unorganized sector

b. Poor do not have adequate income to buy sufficient quantity of food to meet , and also do not get quality food to meet their dietary requirements. They become vulnerable to hunger as they fail to get work throughout the year with no stability in their incomes.
