Pre-fertilization: The events which occur before the fusion of two gametes are termed ‘Pre-Fertilisation’ events

Two main pre fertilization events:

1. Gametogenesis: It is the process of formation of gametes. In plants, the formation of male gametes is called Microsporogenesis and the formation of female gametes is called Megasporogenesis
2. Gamete transfer: The transfer of male gametes to female gametes is called gamete transfer. The transfer of male gametes ( pollen grains ) to the stigma of flowers occurs by pollination.
