Solution
Ovary:
These are the female reproductive organs that release an egg every month, which upon fertilization forms an embryo.
The ovaries also secrete hormones that play a role in the menstrual cycle and fertility.
Peritoneal ligaments:
Peritoneal ligaments are the double layers of the peritoneum that form an attachment between the visceral organs and the abdominal wall.
Two types of peritoneal ligaments attached to the ovary are: Median ovarian ligament and Suspensory ligament.
Median ovarian Ligament:
The fibrous band of connective tissue which is attached to the ovary inferiorly.
It extends to the fundus of the uterus below the fallopian tube of the uterus.
Suspensory Ligament:
The ligament of the ovary is Composed of peritoneal folds extending from the ovary to the pelvis.
This ligament is not a true ligament, as it blends with the broad ligament fold which contains the ovarian arteries, veins, nerves, and lymphatic vessels.
