Alleles are the alternative form of a gene or the pair of genes that occupy a particular position on a particular chromosome and control the same character.
The pairs of alleles determine the same characteristics, such as eye color in humans one allele of a gene encodes the black eye and the other allele encodes the brown eye.
Two types of alleles :
Dominant: The allele which shows its full expression in a population.
Recessive: The allele which is unable to show its full expression or expresses very less in a population.
In a heterozygous combination of alleles, the dominant allele is expressed over the recessive one.
The recessive allele is expressed only in a homologous combination.
