Fissure Eruption: The type of eruption where magma rises slowly to the surface and spreads over a vast area. This type of eruption has led to the formation of plains and plateaus. Example: Deccan Plateau in India and the Colombian Plateau in North America.
Explosive Eruption: The type of eruption where magma rises quickly to the surface and lava is thrown high into the atmosphere is called Explosive eruption. Ash, steam, gases and pieces of rocks are also thrown out during the eruption. Example: Explosion on the island of Krakatoa on 27th August 1883.
