Malnutrition can be understood as deficiencies or over consumption of energy and/or nutrients.

Malnutrition is of two types:

Undernutrition:

  1. Undernutrition occurs due to insufficient consumption of nutrients for a long time.
  2. It may lead to micro-nutrient deficiency in the body which may cause stunted growth.
  3. It may cause low height, low weight and even may cause mental problems.

Overnutrition:

  1. Overnutrition occurs when there is over consumption of nutrients for a very long time.
  2. It causes diabetes, obesity, heart diseases, stroke, cancer, etc.
