  3. There are two types of skeletal tissues, namely, Bones and Cartilages.

Types of Skeletal tissue -

Bones:

  1. The bones are strong and nonflexible tissues.
  2. The cells are embedded in a hard matrix consisting of a collagenous protein complex called ossein and minerals.
  3. The bones help to anchor muscles and provide shape and skeletal support to the body.

Cartilage:

  1. It is a firm and flexible connective tissue capable of continuous and rapid growth.
  2. The solid matrix has fluid-filled lacunae having one too many living cells called chondrocytes.
