What are the 2 types of transformers?
1. The two types of transformers (based on voltage levels) are:
1.1 Step-up transformer :
1.1.1 They function as a link between power generation and the electrical grid. When compared to the input voltage, the secondary output voltage is higher.
1.1.2 In step-up transformer the number of turn in secondary coil is greater than number of turn in primary coil.
1.2 Step-down transformer :
1.2.1 These transformers are used to change the secondary output from the high voltage primary source to the low voltage.
1.2.2 In step-down transformer the number of turn in primary coil is greater than number of turn in secondary coil.
2. The two types of transformers (based on medium of core used) are:
2.1 Air-core transformer: Primary and secondary windings are connected by a flux via the atmosphere. the windings or coils wound on the magnetically inert strip.
2.2 Iron-core transformer : Windings are wound on several iron plates that have been stacked on top of one another, creating the ideal connection path to produce flux.
