The Central Nervous System (CNS) consists of the brain and spinal cord. Muscles are controlled by the Peripheral Nervous System (PNS). The PNS extends from the CNS and connects the muscles present in all parts of the body. The PNS is divided into the Somatic Nervous System (SNS) and the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS). Skeletal muscles are controlled by the SNS, while cardiac and smooth muscles are controlled by the ANS.
