There are three types of motion:

1. Linear motion: Motion in which the particles move in a straight line or curved path. The linear motion is of two types:
   1.1 Rectilinear motion
   1.2 Curvilinear motion
2. Rotatory motion: Rotatory motion is the motion that occurs when a body rotates on its own axis.
3. Oscillatory motion: Oscillatory motion is defined as the to and fro motion of an object from its mean position.
