Question

What are the types of transport processes?

Open in App
Solution

Transport processes:

  1. Transport process involves the in and out movement of molecules, elements, and water across the cell.
  2. In transport process, the required elements like oxygen, nitrogen, and water move inside, and the waste or toxic molecules are thrown out of the cell.
  3. There are two types of transport processes: Mediated transport process and Non-mediated transport process.

Mediated transport process:

  1. In mediated transport process, a specific carrier protein is required.
  2. Also, mediated transport process requires energy for the movement of molecules.

Non-mediated transport process:

  1. In non-mediated transport process, a simple diffusion process occurs.
  2. The driving force of transportation of substance is dependent on carrier protein.
