What are the units of frequency?

Open in App
Solution

Frequency of waveform:

  1. Frequency is the number of waves passing through the same point in unit time. The frequency is the reciprocal of the time period.
  2. Mathematically it is given by: n=1T, where T is the time period and unit of time period is "seconds"
  3. Thus, the unit of frequency is reciprocal, the reciprocal of the unit of the time period. That is "hertz" or “Hz”

Hence, the unit of time period is hertz or Hz.
