Infrasounds can be used in defence to send signals to specials detector that can pick them and can extract vital data. Animals pick up these sounds which warns them about natural disasters.

Ultrasound is used in industry for detecting flaws (cracks etc.) in metal blocs without damaging them.

(ii) Ultrasound is used in industries to clean 'hard to reach' parts of objects such as spiral tubes, odd-shaped machines & electronic components, etc.

(iii) Ultrasound is used to investigate the internal organs of the human body such as liver, gall bladder, pancreas, kidneys & heart, etc.

(iv) Ultrasound is used to break kidney stones into fine grains.

(v) It is used in 'sonar' apparatus to measure the depth of sea (or ocean) ; & to locate under-sea objects like shoal of fish, sea-rocks & hidden ice-bergs in the sea.
