Dear Student
Answer to your question is as follows :
The forest act of 1878 divided forests into three categories :
- Reserved Forests,
- Protected Forests, and
- Village Forests.
It affected the local people in many ways like, they could not take anything from these forests, even for their own use.
Like cutting wood for their houses, grazing their cattle, collecting fruits and roots, hunting and fishing beame illegal.
Because of which people were forced to steal food from the forests, and if they were caught, they are at mercy of the forest guards who in turn take bribes,
Women were also worried who collect fuelwood.
And it was common their for guards and police constables to harass people by demanding for free food from them.
