Dear student, heterotrophs are the organisms which depend on the other organisms for there nutrition. They can not produce there own food instead they derive nutrition and energy from other plants or animals. This is called as heterotrophic mode of nutrition. There are 4 types of heterotrophs- (1) herbivores- which eats plants and there derived products like fruits and vegetables , (2) carnivores- which eats animals to derive there nutrition, (3) omnivores- which eats both plants and animals, (4) decomposers- they derive nutrition by decomposing the dead and decaying organic material. Regards.
