Lenin was the leader of the Russian government after the Russian Revolution of 1917. He played two main roles in the Russian Reconstruction after 1917.
1. He led Russia through the Russian Civil war. The civil war was fought between the Red Army which was the army of the Bolshevik government and the White Army which represented the ousted capitalist and monarchical interests. The victory of the Red Army secured the immediate future of the Revolution.
2. He introduced the New Economic Policy which allowed private enterprise. He abolished war communism with its food requisitioning, and tight control over industry. The NEP successfully stabilised the economy and stimulated industry and agriculture.
