Open in App
Solution

RNA (Ribonucleic acid):

  1. RNA is a type of nucleic acid.
  2. In some viruses, RNA serves as the genetic material.
  3. RNA functions as a messenger, adaptor, structural, and catalytic molecule in some circumstances.

Three types of RNAs:

  1. mRNA (messenger RNA): serves as a template during translation.
  2. tRNA (transfer RNA): transports amino acids and reads the genetic code.
  3. rRNA (ribosomal RNA): serve as structural and catalytic elements.
  4. In a cell, all three RNAs are required for protein synthesis.
