Question

What are the three forms of water?

Open in App
Solution

  1. Pure water is colourless, tasteless, and odourless.

The three forms of water are solid, liquid, and vapour.

  1. Solid: The molecular structure is closely connected in a uniform structure. The density of solid is less than the liquid so it floats in the water. When the temperature of the water goes down to 0°C then it becomes solid (ice).
  2. Liquid: The molecules are present at a small distance with the properties of surface tension and viscosity. The most common form of liquid is water which is used for drinking, washing, and useful applications.
  3. Vapour: The molecules are present at a larger distance than formed by the boiling process. The water is heated at a temperature above the 100°C to form a vapour.
