What are transgenic plants?
Transgenic plants can be defined as the plants whose genetic material (DNA) is modified using certain ‘genetic engineering techniques’ (such as vector mediated gene transfer, electroporation, liposome fusion etc.) in order to insert or delete a gene/a part of gene to induce desired features in the plant such as resistance to biotic and abiotic stresses, improving crop yield and it's nutritional value etc. Example: Bt brinjal and Bt cotton.
