Vermicomposting:

  1. The process of making compost from the kitchen waste by using earthworms is called vermicomposting.
  2. Vermicompost is a high-quality manure which is good for potted domestic plants.
  3. Requirements for the vermicomposting:
    • A pit about 30 cm deep or a metal or wooden box.
    • Sand or kitchen mesh which spreads on the floor of the pit as a 2cm thick layer.
    • Vegetables of plant waste.
    • Earthworms (red worms).
