Solution
Groundwater:
It is the water that is stored or present beneath the ground and keeps the water table at a constant level.
Water stored in the ground has the following advantages :
When water is stored underground, it cannot evaporate; however, when water is stored in a pond, it is open and can readily evaporate.
When wells are spread out, groundwater will assist in recharging or refilling them, but pond water will not be able to reach the wells to recharge them.
In the case of groundwater, the buildup of insects and their breeding is prohibited, but because the pond water is exposed and easily contaminated, the insects will accumulate and begin to breed.
As groundwater is embedded deep below the ground, it is free of human and animal wastes and other contaminants, whereas pond water is accessible to the air and can readily be contaminated.
