Viruses that parasitise bacteria are called bacteriophages.

Diagram:

● Capsid: Made up of protein subunits called capsomeres and encloses the genetic material.

● Tail: Consists of a hollow tube surrounded by a contractile sheath. The tail fibres arise from the basal plate which help in attaching to the bacteria.
