Solution

Autonomous nervous system (ANS)

  1. The ANS is a branch of the peripheral nervous system (PNS). IT modulates involuntary activities of internal organs in the body.
  2. It is further divided into sympathetic and parasympathetic branches. They act in an antagonistic manner to each other.
  3. The nerves of the ANS innervate organs like the heart, the pupil of the eyes, intestines, bladder, etc.
  4. Functions like circulation, digestion, respiration, salivation, etc. are under the control of the ANS.
