What can we do to reduce overuse of plastics?

We can implement the following ways to reduce overuse of plastics:

1) Bring own shopping bags. Re-use of the plastic bags whenever it is possible to do so. Avoid re-use of plastic bags for storage of food items.

2) Stop buying bottled water. Use a reusable bottle or mug for beverages, even when ordering from a to-go shop.

3) Insist shopkeepers to use paper bags or jute bags to carry goods purchased.

4) Buy laundry detergent and dish soap in boxes instead of plastic bottles. Cardboard can be more easily recycled and made into more products than plastic.

5) While picking up takeout or bringing home restaurant leftovers, be prepared with own reusable containers.

6) Avoid buying frozen foods because their packaging is mostly plastic.

7) Pack lunch in reusable containers and bags. Also, opt for fresh fruits and veggies and bulk items instead of products that come in single serving cups.
