Question

What can you say about the average density of a ship floating on water in relation to the density of water ?

Open in App
Solution

Since the density of water is equal to 1gmcm3, for the ship to float its average density had to be less that 1gmcm3.This is acheived by the hollow and empty space in the ship.If it had density more than 1gmcm3 it would have sunk in the water.
