Question

What causes Codominance?

Open in App
Solution

Codominance:

  1. It is a condition when two alleles are neither dominant over one another nor recessive.
  2. This leads to the co-expression of both the alleles.
  3. Thus, neither of the two alleles is completely expressed or suppressed.
  4. The two alleles are expressed as a new phenotype.

Thus, it occurs when two co-dominant genes are present in a heterozygous genotype.
