What causes start capacitors to fail?

  1. A start capacitor is used in submersible pumps, cooling blowers, and so forth.
  2. When the motor is up to speed then the start capacitor disconnects and it is not used again until the next time the motor starts.
  3. They are intended to remain in the circuit for a short span if they remain for a long time, they will overheat and fail.
