Question

What causes storm on Jupiter?

Open in App
Solution

Jupiter rotates really fast and is largely fluid. The result is that differential angular velocity with latitude causes bands of different velocity to form. The difference in velocity with latitude induces rotations to make long lived storms. It's a more extreme version of what happens on the earth.
