Question

What condition is required for generating current by electromagnetic induction?

Open in App
Solution

Electromagnetic induction:
The great Michael Faraday discovered electromagnetic induction. Electromagnetic induction can describe the generation of electromotive force by varying the magnetic field.

The condition required for the production of electric current by electromagnetic induction:
A relative motion must exist between the magnet and conducting wire coil. There should be a variation in the magnetic flux associated with the conductor.

Due to this, the emf will be induced. The emf (electromotive force) generates an electric current inside any conductor. The generation of current is possible due to electromagnetic induction.

Thus, the essential condition for generating current by electromagnetic induction is the change in the magnetic flux.
