Dear Student,
Methods for solid waste management-
1. Incineration- It is the most common waste disposal system in which combustion of solid waste in presence of oxygen.
2. Pyrolysis- It uses absolute no oxygen and decompose organic waste. The solid waste is changed into gases, small solid residues.
3. Landfill dumping- Modern landfill are designed in such a way that the bottom is covered with impervious liner made up of plastic. This liner protects groundwater from being contaminated. When the pit gets filled it is covered with sand.
4. RECYCLING- All the important and precious matter or elements can be recycled. Like silver, copper etc. And reused.
5. VERMICOMPOSTING- It is the process of using worms for the degradation of organic matter into nutrient-rich manure. Worms consume and digest the organic matter. The by product of the digestion which are excreated out by the worms make the soil nutrient-rich, thus inhancing the growth of bacteria and fungi. It is far more effective than traditional composting.
