The salinity of ocean water is determined by the following two factors -
  • Rate and amount of evaporation
  • Supply of freshwaters from the rivers, glaciers and rainfall.
The temperature of ocean water is determined by the following two factors-
  • Latitude - Temperature of water decreases from equatorial to polar regions.
  • Seasonal changes
It is also to be noted that , temperature of ocean water decreases with depth .
