Question

What devices use AC and DC?

Open in App
Solution

Direct current:

  1. The movement of electric charge carriers, i.e. electrons, in a unidirectional flow is known as direct current (DC).
  2. The current intensity varies with time in DC, but the direction of travel remains constant.
  3. DC is used in electronic equipment, microwave ovens, DC motors, and batteries.

Alternating current:

  1. AC is defined as a charge flow that changes direction on a regular basis.
  2. The voltage level will invert along with the current as a result.
  3. Transformers, induction motors, and induction heaters all operate on alternating current (AC).

Both AC and DC are used to power incandescent lamps, resistance heaters, and universal motors.
