G.A. Henty was an English novelist who lived from 1832-1902. He is a well known author of historical adventure stories. These stories were very popular in the late nineteenth century. He wrote over 120 works of historical fiction. Some of his novels and stories are criticised today for glorifying British imperialism and for displaying racist tendencies against non-white people. Some of his well known novels are The Dragon & The Raven(1886), For The Temple (1888), Under Drake's Flag (1883) and In Freedom's Cause (1885).
