The Chinese traveler Hiuen Tsang came to India during Harsha’s reign. He wrote many things about Harsha’s Empire. In his writings, he mentioned that:
Towns and villages were fortified. People practiced farming and animal husbandry.
A highway from Patliputra to Brugu Kachchh (Bharuch) port was used for trade purposes.
The local diet consisted of Milk and Milk products, wheat, rice, fruits and vegetables.
