Jawahar lal Nehru was a strong advocate of peace. He coined and used the word "Non-Aligned for the first time in 1947. He along with Chinese Premier formulated Panchsheel principles which formed the foundation of peaceful-coexistence and non-intervention. He opposed the imperial rules and condemned the formation of military alliances by the US and the Soviet Union. He vehemently opposed the capitalism and communism and promoted socialism while calling upon the nations to go for disarmament and abolish stock piling of nuclear weapons.
