When the ship hit the storm, the reaction of adults and that of the children was quite different. When the adults lost hope of reaching to a safe place or getting saved, it was the children who remarked with motivation. They also offered moral support to the adults during the tough time, displaying maturity. Sue made a greeting card for her parents to show her love and gratitude, even in the times of distress, while Jonathan exclaimed that he is not afraid to die, if they all die together, displaying his courage. Also Sue doesn't wail about her wounds despite being seriously injured, because she did not want to bother her parents.
