Open in App
Solution

Glycoproteins:

  1. Glycoproteins are the type of proteins where the polypeptide chain is attached to carbohydrate molecules.
  2. Glycoproteins help in structure, immune system, hormones, reproduction, and protection
  3. Glycoproteins are found on the surface of the lipid bilayer of cell membranes.
  4. Glycoproteins function in cell signaling, cell-cell recognition, and cell adhesion.
  5. Examples: Membrane proteins, Immunoglobulins, Hormones, and Muscle proteins.

Lipoproteins:

  1. Lipoproteins are the type of proteins where the polypeptide chain is attached to lipids such as phospholipids, and triglycerides.
  2. Lipoproteins help in the transportation of transport fat in the body.
  3. Lipoproteins are particles found in the bloodstream.
  4. Examples: Low-density-lipoproteins (LDL), High-density-lipoproteins (HDL), Very-low-density-lipoproteins (VLDL), etc.

Nucleoproteins :

  1. Nucleoproteins are the type of proteins where the polypeptide chain is attached to nucleic acid either DNA or RNA.
  2. Nucleoproteins help in transcription, translation, and gene expression regulation.
  3. Examples: Ribosome, the enzyme telomerase.

Chromoproteins :

  1. Chromoproteins are the type of proteins where the polypeptide chain is attached the to the pigmented prosthetic group.
  2. Examples: Haemoglobin, carotenoids, or flavoproteins
