  1. The bacteria Lactobacillus ferments milk to produce curd.
  2. In fermentation process, lactose in milk is converted to lactic acid by microorganisms.
  3. This turns the milk acidic, causing the protein casein to solidify into a solid mass known as curd.
  4. Curd has extensive probiotic potential.
  5. It helps with digestion and to increase the amount of good bacteria in the intestines.
