Bakelite: It is a thermosetting polymer formed from phenol and formaldehyde by condensation polymerization.
Uses of Bakelite:
(i) Due to its high resistance to electricity it is used in automotive components and industrial applications.
(ii) Due to excellent insulating properties, it is used in switches and electrical appliances.
(iii) It is also used in making toys and other kitchenware products such as the handle of the frying pans, cookers, etc.
