Bolus:

  1. It is formed as a result of the mixing of ingested and chewed food along with the saliva in the buccal cavity.
  2. This mass of food travels through the oesophagus to reach the stomach for further digestion.

Chyme:

  1. It is a semi-solid mixture of food that comes into the stomach via the oesophagus along with water.
  2. This is what gets transferred into the small intestine for the various enzymes from the pancreas, gall bladder, etc. to digest the food.
