A coefficient of friction is a value that shows the relationship between the force of friction between two objects and the normal reaction between the objects that areinvolved. that is for a rough surface a small normal of normal force is only required to avoid it moving due to a horizontal force.
Fr=u*N where N is the normal force. Fr is friction force and u is friction coefficient.
