Solution

Dear student,

The force of attraction or the force of repulsion between charged objects is known as electrostatic force. It can be between Like or unlike charges. Like charges repel each other and unlike charges attract. Eg. A glass rod rubbed with a piece of silk brought close to a suspended glass rod rubbed with silk repels the latter. The electrostatic force is calculated using the Coulomb 's Law.The Coulombs Law states that the electrostatic force of interaction two charges in free spaces is directly proportional to the product of the charges and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between the charges.
The force is non-contact as it exists between bodies which are not in contact with each other.
